Home Staging Courses

Question: Can anyone recommend good Home Staging courses?

Answer: I have taken a few Home Staging courses. It depends on where you are. I have a suggestions that may sound strange, but I found that you can get pretty good at Home Staging by reading books, catalogs and magazines. I use pictures in catalogs, for different rooms and decors. You stage each room of your home like they do in catalogs or magazines to sell their furniture. But keep spacious.

There are also many books that will help you learn how to stage your home especially on a budget. Most of the time, you don't need to spend much money to do an effective staging job.    Read the rest of this entry »

Question: Anybody taken acting classes?

I've always been interested in acting -- was always doing impressions of my teachers in high school, entertaining family at home, etc., but never really got into it seriously. I've acted in a few small school plays, etc. during college. I'm now in my early 30s, with an otherwise great career ahead of me, but still want to do acting just as a hobby on the side. Just one problem: I have a stutter in my speech. I get terrified by the thought of getting up on stage and screwing up my lines -- especially since I can't change the words or anything, I have to say them exactly as in the script. Anyone else had a similar problem? I know there are many actors like Bruce Willis, James Earl Jones, etc. who stuttered as well, but I'm still nervous. Anyone relate?

Answer: Some people who stutter find that they don't when they take on the role of someone else and are on stage. Some find that changing their voice, such as Marilyn Monroe's breathy voice, helps them to not stutter. Get some tips at www.stutteringhelp.org and meet other young people who stutter at http://groups.myspace.com/stutteringfoundation.
