Question: Any opinions on pre-sale Home Staging, costs/value, etc. Is it worth $2,700 for basic Home Staging??
in Los Angeles Area - House will be empty otherwise
Basic is window treatments - setting the table - accessories/art - a few pieces of furniture to suggest room use, a few plants to spruce up the front yard..
Answer: That all depends on how much your home is worth, how much equity you have into it, how much your net earnings will be after realtor expenses, mortgage payoff, etc... While $2700 may sound like a lot - how much will it cost you if your house does NOT sell? It's a small price to pay I would think, in the southern California area, since home prices can be quite expensive, but you really need to look at your own bottom line to make the correct decision, since staging a home will not increase the value of your home at all. Though it may give the prospective buyers an idea about how they might arrange their own furniture in your home - which really seals the deal when it comes to capturing the buyers mind (Them picturing their own furniture is code for - yes, I can see myself living here) for your own home.
