Home Staging Maine

Question: Cat play date-good idea or bad?
I just adopted my 1-year old Maine Coon, Jed, 2 weeks ago from a local animal shelter. He is very friendly, although very rambunctious as he is in his "teenager" stage. A good friend recently suggested that she bring over her 3-year old cat Lady for a "play date" with Jed, while we watch a movie. I know this is common with dogs, however, I was wondering if it is a good idea for play dates with two cats. I know that kitties can get really territorial and I wouldn't want Jed to feel threatened with the visit of another cat in our home. Suggestions?
Answer: I agree with everyone on this. Bad idea. It will cause your cat stress and if you have only had him 2 weeks than he is going through enough stress adjusting to a new home. If you want to do nice things for Jed, get him lots of toys and a good scratching post.
