Question: Starting a career in real estate...?

I am thinking of starting a career in real estate. I know the housing market is in a state of decline and credit standards are becoming tight. As a result, commissions are going to take a dive for agents. I know that getting a good portfolio of listings will help, but marketing them will be expensive. I have a good connection with media sales and marketing. I am in vehicle sales now and just want to move to a more profitable field with more autonomy and a more professional environment. I have the time, dedication, and a very handy wife with a good eye for staging homes and design. I think that starting with a larger company will be beneficial, but are more experienced agents usually forthcoming with guidance and advice for rookies. I consider my self a good looking, charming young man with a silver tongue. Bottom line, is it a smart move to go into real estate (in Memphis, TN) right now if I have to make at least $40k/year?

Answer: I have been in real estate home sales for almost 30 years. I started in a boom time and learned nothing in the beginning- no one had time to teach me.

When things slowed down I actually learned much more about the business. No matter what the market is there are people that need to sell because of a divorce, death, job loss, or job transfer. There are investors and people that have great income that want or need to buy. Your job is to find these people and put them together.

I don't know what you will make because real estate is very local and very much self driven, but I love this job. (I am an old geezer and only sleep with my wife. So much for the first guy's theory)

Question: Is there any were to get help to pay for a funeral in California my dad is in last stage of life due to cancer?

We live in California ( Bay Area ) & my father lives with me & I'm home nursing him he is on Vitas
( Hospice ) He is in his last stages of life due to very rapid spreading cancer He has no life insurance and the only income is his SSI of $918 a month is there any kind of assistance that I can get in order to pay for his cremation and funeral services He is 64 years old and has no California ID or birth certificate I have not been successful in getting a birth certificate for him he was born at home in Arkansas and never had a birth certificate the place that had his birth records burnt down with all records in it now the state and government act like he doesn't exist all though he has a Social security card . Please Help I'm very much in need of help.

Answer: Call the team social worker from Vitas. Vitas won't be able to help with the funeral but the social worker may have some ideas about how to raise funds in the community or put you in touch with a community resource that can help.

Question: Does anyone have any suggestions for starting a home photography business in Dallas, TX?

Me and my boyfriend are starting a photography business in the DFW area. We are mainly going to market to local businesses at first to get our pictures displayed (for free) and then hopefully people will start seeing our products and want to purchase for their homes, offices, etc. I was just looking for any suggestions, advice or any helpful information that we could use. We are still in the planning stages, but hope to be up and running in a few months. Thanks for all your help!

Answer: I would call SCORE fort worth- they are retired executives that council on small business start ups.
Or the SMall Business Development Center. I live in Tarrant county,, not sure whats in Dallas though!
