Home Staging Website Templates

Question: Creating a home page in WordPress?
I need to create a static home page for my WordPress website. I didn't think it would be a problem, since I created a new page using the "Home Page" template and called the page "Home". The only problem is that the home page doesn't pop up when I go to my site. I can get to the home page by clicking on the "Home" button in the navbar, but the home page url is test.mywebsite.com/?page_id=123 (just an example, and right now it's in the test stages). How would I get my home page to have the url of just plain test.mywebsite.com? I know it's probably something simple...
Answer: Hi LP,
Sorry you're having trouble setting up your static home page in WordPress. It sounds like not only do you want to have a static home page, but that you also want to use a custom template for that page (so it looks different from the rest of your site).
If you edited the home.php template, you will want to instead edit the front-page.php template. home.php is the template for the page that contains your latest posts while front-page.php is the correct template for a static home page.
You will also want to adjust the settings in your WordPress dashboard to display a static page instead of the default latest posts page:

Hope this helps!
