Question: Golf GT TDi safe drive home mode when cold?
I have a 2000 Golf GT TDi 115, and when it is cold, it frequently goes into safe mode, where it won't rev and just limps along. No message on the display when it happens. If I stop and start the engine again it will be OK, but sometimes it does this more than once. I am not thrashing it and it will do this at around 3000rpm. The temperature gauge is errartic and I thought that perhaps if the ECU was seeing it as being cold, it might be the problem, but last week, I noticed it happened when the temp guage was reading fine and the car was fairly warmed up. I had thought at one stage it was that the oil was low and perhaps when it was cold, there coudl be momentary low levels and pressure drops, but it definitely happens when the oil is spot on now. Usually this happens in the first 5 miles or so of my journey and if it gets past that it is ok.
The car has done 104000 miles and that is genuine and VW servicing. Any ideas or information appreciated.
Answer: From a series of earlier answers on what people say is the turbo cutting out, I think this is most likely to be the airflow sensor, which is a section of pipe between the air filter and the turbo inlet. It is also possible that the pre-filter screen is clogged. Trace that back, and remove it/clean it. At >100K miles and 8 years, if the servicing has not been thorough (and main dealer servicing is not necessarily that), it could be that you have all those years and miles of bugs blocking airflow. You might have seen a drop in mpg over the last few years and put it down to general ageing. Before buying anything, I would suggest checking the filter screen. If it is dirty take it out and run the car and see if the problem recurs. There is no damage to be done as the main air filter will still be in. If the car still misbehaves, wiggle the connection on the airflow sensor. Most sensor devices are extremely reliable and usually faluts come down to the weakest lkink, which is often the metal to metal contact where the device plugs in. If that gets a bit oxidised, then it can appear as a fault, but be restored by breaking and reconnecting the plug, which scrapes back to bare metal to metal contact. Good luck.

Home Staging
Home staging is fun! With home staging, you want to create an atmosphere that puts the home buyer in a mood to get emotionally attached to your staged home.
Before you begin home staging
Before you start home staging, take pictures of the house you are about to stage during the day, inside and outside. The pitcures of the pre staging home helps staging professionals view the home with an unbiased eye. Sometimes pre-staging photographs will reveal areas that need staging attention that are not apparent with the naked eyes.
Good home staging trick
Using the camera is a good home staging trick. Sometimes, when working on staging a house, the home staging professionals can get too involved and attached to the house. Feelings and emotional attachments should be avoided in Real Estate Staging. The use of a camera will help Real Estate Staging professionals stage a home without bringing his or her personality to it. Seeing a pre staging home through the lense of the camera creates a barrier between the home staging professional and the home to be staged.
